Workers’ Compensation
Appropriate quality healthcare for injured workers include medical massage therapy!
If you have been injured on the job and you have any muscle aches, pains, sprains or strains… manual therapy should be a part of your medical care.
Everyone looks to make changes in the Employee’s condition but it seems most overlook the soft tissue damage until it becomes the last resort. By then other compilations have set in, both mentally and physically. Healing takes time. We all know that it cannot take place overnight. However, the longer your condition remains unattended, the more the side effects and healing process can take place.
So the big question is what is the process to get workers’ compensation to cover your work related injury?
If you have experienced a work-related injury and you want to be treated by one of our medical massage therapist, please do the following to receive authorization so that Workers’ Compensation will cover your treatment costs:
Steps to receive authorization for medical massage treatment:
1. Notify your employer about injury. The employer should make the injury report.
2. Contact the medical doctor to get the prescription for manual therapy so that it will be included as a part of your treatment plan. Please do not get a prescription for massage, but for manual therapy. If a prescription for massage is brought in, it will delay your treatments. We will have to re-contact your doctor to have them provide a prescription for “manual therapy”. (see form for download)
3. Contact the claims adjuster to inform about injury and the doctor prescription for manual therapy
4. Present the prescription to one of our therapists. Our experienced staff will be happy to get authorization from your worker’s compensation insurance for manual therapy as a part of your treatment plan.
5. Once we receive the necessary authorization from your workers’ compensation insurance, we will contact you to schedule your appointments.
NOTE: A MEDICAL MASSAGE TREATMENT, TREATMENT PRESCRIBED BY A DOCTOR, IS DIFFERENT THAN A NON-MEDICAL TREATMENT.
